About Department

The School of Media and Communications, under the auspices of the Institute of Knowledge Societies at Centurion University is being launched as a complete media school which will have an integrated Bachelors and Masters degree programme, short term skill programmes in partnership with the PMKVY scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India and industry partnerships with both National and Regional Media. The school will deliver UNESCO’s “Model Curriculum for Developing Countries and Emerging Democracies”.

We at Centurion, pride ourselves for having implemented the CBCS scheme of the UGC and all our courses are aligned to the National Skill Qualification Framework. The course will be unique in that students will be required to take only 25 to 35 % of the total course load as core courses in the classroom. The student will then be free to choose all other courses from open baskets in any discipline and in practice mode.

Apart from teaching our faculty also engage in outstanding and innovative research. We address crucial issues in the emerging digital world about knowledge construction, political agency, cultures and identities, and governing the media and communications environment. Our work is strongly comparative and transnational. Our engaged and critical approach is committed to strengthening interdisciplinary scholarship drawing on a number of social science disciplines and multi-method approaches to research.

We are in the process of forging formal collaborations with different departments and schools of media and communications from around the world and expect to have a vibrant campus with both faculty and students from across the globe.
