About Department
Mechanical engineering is the study of objects and systems in motion. The role of a mechanical engineer is to take a product from an idea to the marketplace. The mechanical engineer must be able to determine the forces and thermal environment that a product, its parts, or its subsystems will encounter design them for functionality, aesthetics, and durability and determine the best manufacturing approach that will ensure operation without failure. It encompasses key elements of aerospace, electrical, civil, chemical and even materials science and bio-engineering. Mechanical engineering touches virtually every aspect of modern life, from mobile phones and biomedical devices, to aircrafts and power plants.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with Domain specializations in;
- Automobile Engineering
- Manufacturing (Conventional Machining, CNC and Additive Manufacturing)
- Automotive Design
- Welding and Inspection
- 3D Printing
- Mechatronics
The breadth of the mechanical engineering discipline allows students a variety of career options in any of the above domain area. The University/Department is equipped with state of art Lab/workshop for manufacturing products using 5 Axis CNC, 3D Printers, Wood Engineering, Welding, Refrigeration, Automobile of 2-wheeler, 4-wheeler, heavy vehicle. We have strong collaboration with Ashok Leyland, Hyundai, Eicher, and Yamaha for Automobile workshop. We also have collaboration with Dassault System for Digital Manufacturing using 3D Experience software. Regardless of the particular path they envision for themselves, a mechanical engineering education empowers students with creative thinking skills to design an exciting product, use analytical tools and simulate digitally enabling them to fabricate a product.
- The curriculum has been developed to use industry supported workshop and build said domain competency of students with strong hands-on skill, from design to make a product. These valuable skills build confidence for students to work in any manufacturing industry. Students are well exposed to software/tool viz; CATIA, SIMULIA, DELMIA, ENOVIA, 3DEXPERIENCE, MATLAB for Digital manufacturing.
