The Department of Optometry was established in the year of 2017, offers Bachelors of Optometry which is a 4 years programme (3+1 year clinical Internship).

Achievements
Research:
The Department of Optometry actively participates in conducting the research, so far the department could get the articles published in Scopus-9 , WoS-2 and UGC-1, 1 Patent.
Student achievements:
1.During 2021 World Optometry Day celebrations, Optometry Association of Tamil Nadu
(OATN) conducted National wide video contest and 2018 batch Optometry students
banged both the 1 st and 2 nd prize.
- Indian Optometry Association(IOA) in fusion with Andhra Pradesh Optometry Association (APOA) have conducted CME on Contact Lens at Shankar Foundation, Vizag on 24-09-2023, During the poster presentation, students have participated and won 1 st and 2 nd prize.
Faculty achievements:
- Mr N Dinesh Kumar has qualified NET University Grants Commission on 5 th January 2019, he also won Gold Medal in Masters in Optometry from Central University of Hyderabad in 2020.
- Mr Sourajit Kumar Banerjee has won Gold Medal in Masters in Optometry from Sushanth University, Haryana in 2022.
Record of 90% placement of our students into both marketing and hospital sector.
Eye Screening Camps:
The department has the vision to offer community-based eye care services by conducting vision screening camps at nearby rural areas. Starting from 2017, this initiative paved the way for screening for more than 20,000 members, 2,000 spectacle prescriptions, and 1000 referrals to the nearby tertiary institutes. With the collaboration of Essilor, the department could give free spectacles to the families with poor income background as a significance of Sustainable Development Goals.
