Many students often wonder when is the best time for them to pursue a management degree course such as MBA. Most of them wonder whether it would not be best to enroll for such a program immediately after any Bachelors degree program or a B.Tech/ Engineering course. Find out when it is the best time to take up MBA studies.
After working for sometime
Ideally, it is best to enroll for such a program a minimum of 3 – 4 years of working in a profession. This is important, given that a major difference can be made by having work experience. Work experience is necessary in many concepts associated to change management, organization management and leadership. Unless you have experience in professional terms, you will be unable to make much progress with any of those classes. You need to come with some experience in dealing with a team, expertise in dealing with conflicts encountered as a member or team manager etc.
When you get the chance to progress in your career
You need to pursue an MBA program when your profession or life presents you with the opportunity to move to leadership roles or change careers. If you wish to take up a leadership role, it is important to have a few years of work experience prior to doing MBA. Professional work experience is needed in a few of the best ranked B schools out there. These schools know how important it is to have such experience.
However, if you want to change your career path, it is a good idea to enroll in a good B school, take up a full time MBA program and then take internships in strategy. It can provide you with the chance to change your own profession. Internships are the key here. Unless that is the case, you might get back to your original position and unable to make an easy career transition.
While many successful students from top B schools are able to get into top management jobs and fulfill all the responsibilities very ably, most are unable to do that. When you fulfill all the pre-requisites of MBA, including having some work experience, you can maximize your chances of success in your management job role.
