Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Radiology and Imaging Technology (B.Sc. RIT) is a competency-based undergraduate program


The program aims to develop clinically competent, ethically responsible, and professionally skilled radiology technologists capable of supporting diagnostic and interventional imaging services across diverse healthcare settings.

The curriculum integrates foundational biomedical sciences, radiological physics, imaging technology, patient care, radiation safety, and extensive clinical training.
Students receive hands-on exposure to modern imaging modalities such as X-ray, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound, Mammography, and Interventional Radiology, with strong emphasis on patient safety, quality assurance, and professional ethics.

Structured as a three-year academic program with a compulsory internship, the course follows a competency-based education model, ensuring graduates acquire the required knowledge, practical skills, professional attitudes, and ethical values as prescribed by national regulatory standards.

On successful completion, graduates are eligible for registration under the National/State Allied and Healthcare Professions Council and are well prepared for employment, higher education, research, and professional growth in the field of medical imaging.

Curriculum Structure

The curriculum is structured into three academic baskets, ensuring a balanced integration of theory, practical training, and clinical exposure.

Basket 1 – School Core Courses

Focus on foundational biomedical sciences:

  1. General Anatomy
  2. General Physiology
  3. Basic Biochemistry
  4. Biology / Cell Biology / Mathematics


These courses build essential understanding of human structure, function, and molecular processes, forming the base for imaging interpretation.

Basket 2 – Discipline Core Courses

Core professional radiology subjects including:

  1. Radiation Physics & Radiation Protection
  2. Fundamental Medical Imaging
  3. Radiographic Techniques (I & II)
  4. CT & MRI Physics and Protocols
  5. Mammography & Ultrasound
  6. Interventional Radiology
  7. Applied Equipment of Radio Diagnosis
  8. Medical Instrumentation
  9. Medical Law & Ethics
  10. Clinical Sciences
Project Work & Internship

Emphasis is placed on hands-on practical training, imaging protocols, patient preparation, contrast administration, safety standards, and equipment handling.

Clinical Training & Internship

Students undergo mandatory clinical postings and a 6-month internship in recognized hospitals and diagnostic centers equipped with modern radiology and imaging facilities.

  • Radiation safety and quality assurance
  • Emergency handling and ethical practice

Educational Qualification

As per the prevailing norms of UGC, State Universities, and Allied Health Science regulations, the eligibility for admission to the B.Sc. Radiology program is as follows:

1.Academic Qualification

  • The candidate must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate) or its equivalent examination From a recognized Board or University with aggregate of 50% 

2. Mandatory Subjects

  • The candidate must have studied the following subjects at the 10+2 level:
  1. Physics
  2. Chemistry
  3. Biology (Botany & Zoology)

Admission Procedure

Admission shall be based on:

  • Merit in the qualifying examination (10+2 )
  • Entrance examination
