The 2nd International Conference of the Global South Nexus (GSN), hosted by Curtin University, and co-hosted by Centurion from November 23-25, 2023. The conference theme, “Creating Responsible Professionals for Advancing SDGs: Inputs from Global North and South,” emphasized on “Localizing SDGs for Built Environment and Communities: A North-South Exchange.”
As the global push toward the 2030 SDG targets intensifies, the concepts of localizing and advancing the SDGs have become key topics of discussion. The challenges of achieving these targets are being debated worldwide, with one of the major challenges for the identification of the right professionals to lead and manage SDG implementation. The success of the SDGs depends largely on the preparedness and responsibility of these professionals to drive sustainable development forward.
This conference redefined the roles of universities, professional institutions, and government agencies in creating a new generation of responsible professionals to advance the SDGs and ensure meaningful progress toward a sustainable future.
